Laser skin treatments / skin peel
Laser Rejuvenation and Laser Peels are amongst some of the most effective treatments for general ageing, volume, texture and pigmentation.
Using a laser enables us to target problems in the deepest layers of the skin and correct them in as little as 3 treatments. Laser Rejuvenation and Laser Peels both work in a similar way but a consultation and patch test would be essential prior to deciding which would work best for your concerns.
At dermalclinic® we use an FDA approved Nd Yag Laser (RevLite) to target sun damage and remove surface layers of old damaged skin. Laser treatment is also highly effective on acne scarring, especially when combined with EDS Dermaroller treatments.
Want to know more about this treatment?
If you are interested in discussing laser rejuvenation, peels or treatments, we ask that you come to the clinic for a full consultation and patch test. This patch test involves a very small treatment on the area of concern. A patch test is required at least 2 weeks before your first session.
What should I expect during the treatment?
You will experience a ‘cracking sound’ as the laser works over the skin. This is not a painful treatment, but some patients find it similar to being flicked with an elastic band. Skin Rejuvenation has very little downtime; a 2 hour period of redness is expected. Laser Peels can result in 48-72 hours of swelling and discolouration; high pigment areas may take up to 7 days before any crusting disappears. The images of the treated hand are for the Laser Peel, to remove the age spots.
What is the aftercare advice?
We recommend a product called Control Tactics to promote healing be applied for several days after your treatment and the use of a high SPF such as Heliocare SPF50+. Active skincare such as cosmeceuticals (especially those containing Vitamin A) and strong sun should be avoided for 30 days after treatment. Swimming should be avoided while the skin is healing. Saunas and steam rooms should also be avoided for the first 48 hours after treatment.
