Following graduation from Aberdeen Medical School in 1990, Mr Ken Stewart went on to complete basic surgical training in Glasgow, Edinburgh & Newcastle and specialty training in plastic & reconstructive surgery in Aberdeen, Newcastle and Edinburgh. Always keen to progress and to be a leading expert in his field, he has also undertaken specialist training in microsurgery, aesthetic/cosmetic fellowship training in London and ear reconstruction training in California. He was awarded an MD degree for his time spent in research in Sydney, Australia, and is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of London and Edinburgh.
Currently he is Consultant Plastic & Reconstructive Surgeon at St John’s Hospital in Livingston, the Royal Hospital for Sick Children in Edinburgh and the Raigmore Hospital in Inverness. His NHS sub-specialty interest includes ear and facial reconstruction. He also runs the Scottish National Ear Reconstruction Programme for children and adults with ear deformities. In the private sector, he has an interest in facial rejuvenation through surgical and non-surgical treatments as well as rhinoplasty, breast surgery and body contouring surgery. He is extensively published in the medical literature and has written several book chapters. Mr. Ken Stewart is a member of the British Association of Plastic, Reconstructive & Aesthetic Surgeons and the British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons.
Mr. Ken Stewart has been on the GMC specialist register and working as a consultant plastic surgeon since 2002. He undertakes complex reconstructive surgical procedures in the NHS and receives referrals from all over the UK. His specialist interests in the NHS are ear reconstruction and fat redistribution.
In private practice Mr. Ken Stewart undertakes aesthetic plastic surgery including facial rejuvenation, rhinoplasty and otoplasty. He utilises his experience in breast augmentation, uplift and reduction surgery as well as tummy tucks and liposuction. He sings incredibly badly when operating but fortunately tries to stop himself when the patient is awake.
He is regularly invited to lecture both in the UK internationally most recently in Beijing, China. He has authored or co-authored many papers in the Journal of Plastic Aesthetic and Reconstructive Surgery. Recent works have included papers on breast reduction, abdominoplasty, otoplasty, fat transfer and liposuction.
Mr. Ken Stewart is a full member of BAPRAS, BAAPS and most recently was invited to join the prestigious European Association of Plastic Surgeons.
Mr. Ken Stewart is married with 4 boys. He runs marathons slowly, capsizes his boat frequently and coaches mini-rugby despite a lack of talent in that arena.
