At Dermal Clinic, we completely understand that many of our potential clients know they want to make a change, but aren’t always too sure about how to do it or where to go. And quite right too, aesthetic procedures should not be taken lightly.
But we like to make the process as easy and as transparent as possible for clients, without rushing them into anything drastic. A better informed client can make the best choice for them. We’re always honest too – if our practitioners do not believe having treatment is in your best interest, they will tell you.
This ethos is the basis of our work at Dermal Clinic. So this week, we’re dishing the details on lip augmentation and what the process of having treatment actually looks like – from the first contact to walking out of the clinic with beautifully natural results.
Step 1: Choosing a practitioner
Our Clinical Director Jackie Partridge and Aesthetic Doctor Jenny Ramsay are lip experts. Both are advocates of safe aesthetic treatments, with Jackie having raked in a number of prestigious awards, as well as taking the stage at industry events and conferences and holding her own lip masterclasses. Jenny has over 12 years of medical experience as a GP and specialises in wrinkle reducing injections and dermal fillers to an advanced level.
Jackie and Jenny are supported by a team of several experienced aestheticians in the clinic, dedicated to providing clients with the best possible advice and professional solutions – plus, we are just incredibly passionate about what we do. So you can be assured you are in safe hands when you choose Dermal.
Step 2: The consultation process
We love a chat with our clients, so don’t hesitate to get in touch. A consultation process is key to understanding what you’d like to achieve and how we can help you to do it.
Prior to a lip augmentation treatment, a full medical consultation will be performed by your practitioner. They will discuss any relevant medical history with you and advise on the best way to achieve naturally gorgeous results. We might even recommend a different treatment if we believe it will be more beneficial, especially to balance proportions and facial harmony.
Patients under 18 will not be treated.
Step 3: The treatment
We use hyaluronic acid dermal fillers when carrying out lip enhancements. This is a substance which is already present in your body and can add that little boost of hydration or volume to a thinning lip.
As advanced practitioners, we can also use Botulinum toxin type A (often called botox) to relax the muscles around the mouth to improve and prevent and reduce the appearance of smoker’s lines.
A complementary dental block or topical anaesthetic cream will be offered to minimise any discomfort and numb the area. When done correctly, injections will not be painful.
If you’ve got a special date in the diary, we’d recommend having the treatment a few weeks prior to allow for the risk of any swelling or bruising. Taking arnica tablets a couple of days before can help to reduce bruising and avoiding alcohol prior to lip augmentation is also advisable. We don’t recommend putting any products on the lips immediately after treatment to prevent infection.
Step 4: The results
This is the exciting part – naturally gorgeous lips that will last you up to nine months. Look better, feel better with Dermal Clinic.
