Skin (Dull)

Dull Skin Treatments at dermalclinic® Edinburgh.

Dull Skin Solutions

Dull skin can make you feel down about your general appearance. Your skin reflects your mood: when you feel good, your skin feels good!

Dull skin can be caused by many factors including poor general health, overload of dead skin cells, ineffective skin care, diet and lifestyle as well as high bacteria levels. Dermalclinic® can help in several ways. Firstly we will offer you a Visia Skin Analysis.

The Visia Skin Analysis at dermalclinic® will define wrinkles, sun damage, bacteria on the skin, pore size, texture, and red areas (from vascular activity). In conjunction with a full consultation we will then be able to determine a treatment plan.

What Treatments are Available?

Laser Rejuvenation

Laser skin resurfacing uses a specially crafted beam of thermal energy that gets to work deep into the layers of your skin.. The use of this high energy laser allows your skin to naturally repair and reform, encouraging healthy new skin to grow for a more even complexion. The versatile nature of laser treatment means that our experts can target your specific problem areas such as the cheeks, or treat larger areas such as the whole face.

Typically the treatment will reduce the skins age by 2 years per session hence 5 sessions can give up to a visual reduction of 10 years in the skins texture and tone. Normally around 5 treatments are required at 2 to 4 weekly intervals.

Results are accumulative; however, with no down-time or after effects, a customer may wish to have a one off treatment to freshen their skin for an important event. One whole face can be treated in 30 minutes. Periodic refreshers may be required 6 months after the initial course

Skin Peels

At dermalclinic® we offer a variety of medical grade skin peels. These peels have been developed by dermatologists and are all custom built to offer each patient a peel specific for their individual needs. Peels are an effective way to not only remove dead skin cells but they will also penetrate deep into the skin treating conditions such as Acne, Hyperpigmentation, Rosacea, and uneven skin tone.

Dead Skin Cells – Microdemabrasion

To reduce the build up of dead skin cells, Microdermabrasion is a very effective way to establish a brighter complexion as well as enabling the skin to better absorb effective skin care such as Obagi Nuderm, BiRetix, Neostrata, and Rodial. Some of these products are for in-clinic as well as home use. Microdermabrasion involves the skin being deeply cleansed then a mechanical disc covered with diamond chips rotating all over the skin surface of the skin to gently, yet effectively, remove the dead skin cells from the uppermost surface of the skin (the Stratum Corneum). You can expect 60-80% of all dead skin cells to be removed. Once the dead cells are removed, the skin will more readily accept topical products and also allow light to bounce off it ensuring a vibrant and luminous complexion to be revealed.

Genuine Dermaroller

This in clinic treatment involves anaesthetic cream being applied to the skin. Once this has taken effect (which takes approx 30 minutes)the Genuine DermaRoller which is a handheld device is gently rolled across this skin resulting in hundreds of tiny needle pricks. This treatment works on the dermal area of the skin and actively encourages formation of new collagen and fibroblasts. The roller action also lifts off dead skin cells as well as breaking down Acne scars. The skin can feel slightly dry for a couple of days after this treatment, however your complexion will be dramatically improved and strengthened. The redness of the skin will be slight and within three hours 50% of this redness will have disappeared. Jackie Partridge is the Trainer of Doctors, Dentists and Nurses across Scotland for this therapy.

Prescription Home Use Care

Some skincare treatments require a prescription, and these can also be offered at dermalclinic®. These include Obagi Nuderm, which is used to treat superficial and deep Hyperpigmentation (Sun damage); BiRetix, which is prescribed for either Normal/Oily or Normal/Dry skin suffering from Acne.
